3rd grade students read a story about a boy named Juanito who moved, started a new school, and had to adjust because he spoke Spanish and everyone else spoke English. As time went on, he talked about his family traditions and discovered things he was good at. One tradition his family had was making bunuelos, which is a cinnamon/sugar treat. He also discovered he was good at writing poems. 3rd graders got to make bunuelos and write acrostic poems about things that are important to them.
